Facial Filler Treatments

WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLER ?

Dermal fillers are a soft tissue injectable made from hyaluronic acid - a compound that is naturally occurring in the body. The natural effects of aging can cause levels of structural components of the skin such as collagen and elastin to diminish, which can result in a loss of volume, sagging skin and more evident fine lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers aim to help reduce the appearance and effects of aging.

There are different types of dermal fillers.

Some dermal fillers are more effective for creating volume so are used for volumising deeper facial contours. These are used for areas around the nose, cheeks and chin and jaw line. Other dermal fillers are made to specifically fill in deep facial line, and wrinkles of the face. These are suitable for use under the eyes, on the forehead and lips.

Facial contouring involves for reshaping the main features of the face (excluding the lips).

The areas that can be corrected include:

· Eyes - To eradicate bags and loss of volume under the eyes.

· Cheeks - To correct any loss of volume in the face or enhance the definition of the cheekbones.

· Nose - Symmetry, straightening of the nose and refining dorsal hump.

· Chin - Symmetry or reshape the chin for definition.

· Jawline - Refine the jawline for a more chiselled definition

· 8-point face lift - A bespoke treatment involving multiple facial areas, providing contouring, lifting, reduction in wrinkles and facial lines.

· Reduction of facial lines - Around the forehead and smile lines.

Is the treatment suitable and appropriate for me?

· We get asked this question a lot. We recommend that you book a consultation so that we can assess and help you to decide on your best option.

Will the treatment be painful?

· We apply a local anaesthetic cream to the area 15 - 20 minutes before the treatment, so pain is minimal and often there is none.

Why can I not have the treatment?

· Hyaluronic acid is the main component of the dermal fillers, which is naturally produced by our bodies and hence side effects are extremely rare.

If you have the following conditions then the treatment is not suitable for you at the present time:

· Pregnant

· Breast Feeding

· Active Cold Sores

· On blood thinning medication

How long will the treatment take?

· The duration of the treatment is dependent on the area being treated.

· On average a treatment takes around 45 - 60 minutes.

Is there any downtime?

· Virtually None.

· Occasionally there can be slight swelling, and pin prick blood spots at the site of the injection for the first 24 hours.

· Rarely, there can be a little bruising.

Results - What to expect?

· You will achieve your as near desired results, which you decided on with your practitioner.

How long will the results last?

· Everyone is different and therefore there is no guaranteed time period.

· Generally the results can last from 6 - 9 months and in some instances, up to 12 month.
