What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are composed of non-animal based hyaluronic acid, natural and synthetic materials. They are used as injectable substances to restore a natural, youthful and enhanced appearance.

What are the benefits of having dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are a fast and safe way to enhance your natural looks, with results being instantly visible after your first treatment. The fillers do not effect or restrict the natural movement and expressions of your face, but help you to subtly contour your looks to what you desire. Post treatment, there is virtually no downtime and results are long lasting, dependent on treatment area.

Are there any side effects of associated risks?

Dermal fillers are commonly used for aesthetic procedures, and because they are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body, there is virtually no risk when using them. Side effects are extremely rare but may include bruising and swelling, which will resolve spontaneously within a few days after the treatment. In very rare cases of more concerning reactions, contact the practitioner, who would be able to advise you further. Discuss any concerns and queries with the practitioner fully and before you receive the treatment.

Is the procedure painful?

Prior to the treatment, a local anaesthetic cream is applied to numb the area. High quality dermal fillers include lidocaine, which is an anaesthetic itself, and helps to provide a more comfortable treatment experience. During the treatment some patients mention experiencing the feeling of the dermal filler being injected.

How long do the results last?

Dermal fillers are long lasting; however results are highly dependent on the treatment area, quality and type of dermal filler used. Lifestyle factors also influence how long the results last. On average, lip augmentation can last for up to 6 - 9 months. Facial dermal fillers generally last up to 9 months. After this time period, it is recommended that you repeat your treatment in order to uphold and maintain your enhanced appearance.

Will there be a difference immediately after the treatment?

Yes, you will notice immediate change in your aesthetics post-treatment.

How long does the treatment take?

It is recommended that you book a consultation with the practitioner prior to any treatment, to discuss your concerns, ask questions, your desired outcomes and to carry out a full medical assessment, which takes around 30 minutes. The treatment itself, depending on the treatment area can take 45 - 60 minutes.

Are all dermal fillers the same?

There are several brands of dermal fillers available on the market. We only use the best in class, FDA approved, Restylane and Juvederm brands. During your consultation the practitioner will discuss and advise you of the most appropriate dermal filler for your treatment.

What are PDO Threads?

PDO threads are made from synthetic fibres that are used to support the skin tissue from within. The threads aid the subtle tightening, lifting and firming of aged and sagging skin. There are several types of PDO threads, each of which is specifically selected by the practitioner to provide the best possible "desired results".

How do PDO threads work?

Apart from supporting the tissue structure, the added benefit and advantage of PDO threads over surgical procedure is that once inserted into position they promote and help stimulate the production of elastin and collagen around the area, which are two of the most important requirements for firm and younger looking skin.

What are the associated risks and side effects?

Occasionally there may be mild swelling or bruising at the site of thread insertion, however this will subside within the first 24 - 48 hours. With PDO threads treatments; there is virtually no downtime however you may elect to take a day off.

Is the treatment safe?

PDO threads have been used medically in surgery, for over 30 years in one form or another and are safe. PDO threads are naturally dissolved by the body over a period of time. As with all medical procedures, no treatment is risk free. Compared to cosmetic surgery, PDO threads are a safer option, with reduced risk, virtually no downtime and visible results.

Is the treatment painful?

Local anaesthetic cream or local anaesthetic is administered to the area to allow for a comfortable experience. Slight pressure and "pin prick" at the site of insertion may be felt, however this is temporary and subsides almost immediately.

How long does the treatment take?

It is recommended you book a consultation with the practitioner prior to any treatment to discuss, the procedure, desired outcomes, and to also carry out a full medical assessment, which would usually take up to 30 minutes. The treatment generally takes around 60 - 90 minutes, dependent on the treatment area.

Will there be a difference after the treatment?

Yes, you will see a noticeable difference, however optimal results will be on going over a period of 8 - 12 weeks, during which time collagen and elastin production will be stimulated and surround the threads, in deep tissue.

How long do PDO threads last?

Results can generally last for up to 12 - 18 months but varies depending on individuals. As the threads are dissolved by the body, new collagen and elastin will continue to provide structure and support to the facial features.

Chemical Peels

What are medical grade chemical peels?

Medical grade chemical peels can only be applied by fully trained and qualified medical professionals and are not available for purchase from retail outlets. The peel is a mixture of mild to strong acids which is applied to the skin. The chemicals cause the skin to peel, resulting in removal of "old" dead cells.

What are the side effects?

There are no side effects. Within 24-hours of the treatment you will start to experience peeling, flaking and some redness at the treatment site, which is normal.

Is the treatment painful?

Dependent on the strength of the peel, apart from a slight burning sensation and tightening of the skin, generally there is no pain or discomfort.

Is there any downtime?

It is wholly up to the individual and if they are happy to go about their normal activities, socially and professionally. With medical grade chemical peels you will need to reconsider your normal activities for the first 3 -5 days due to skin peeling. In some cases this can last up to 5 - 7 days, dependent on the strength of the peel.

How long does the treatment take?

The preparation and application of the peel is under 60 minutes.

What is the after-care requirement?

Avoid applying makeup for the first week. Apply SPF25+ sun cream if going out in the sun. Use only water and mild soap to wash your face during the first week. Keep yourself hydrated.

How long do the results last?

The results last for a considerable period of time, anything between 6 - 8 months. You should consider maintenance sessions once or twice a year, once you have completed your initial course of treatments.

What is Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a treatment that involves injecting nourishing nutrients as serums under the skin. The formulation of each serum is specific to your condition, skin and the area being treated. Essential for healthy skin and hair, are vitamins, amino-acids and hyaluronic acid, an acid which is often referred to as "The Fountain of Youth".

What is the process?

Mesotherapy treatment uses extremely fine needles to administer the serum into the skin, injecting a precise dose of the serum at a predetermined depth under the skin each time, for optimal effectiveness and benefit.

Is the treatment painful?

The needles are extremely fine and are generally well tolerated. To ensure virtually no discomfort, local anaesthetic cream can be applied. There will be fine "pin prick" marks, which usually clear up within a few hours, as will any swelling or bruising, which is extremely rare.

Is there any downtime?

Virtually none, individuals can go about their daily normal routine without restriction.

What results can be expected?

Over a very short time period, the treatment visibly improves superficial wrinkles, dull, dry and lifeless skin.

Is mesotherapy safe?

Yes, all of the nutrients which make up the serums are found naturally in our bodies, but over time the production of these nutrients reduces vastly as they begin to degrade. The treatment replenishes the vitamins, hyaluronic acid and amino-acid levels, leaving the skin looking and feeling healthy and revitalized. It is the "go to" treatment in the United States and in Europe with only specific clinics offering mesotherapy as a treatment in the UK.

Is mesotherapy effective?

The treatment is highly effective, leaving the skin glowing with a firmer texture. The results generally last from 9 - 12 months, but depend on the individuals.

How many sessions are required to be effective?

A course of 4 - 6 treatments, initially spread over 2 weeks is recommended followed by maintenance sessions 1 - 2 times a year to ensure on-going and lasting results. Autumn is most probably the best time to receive mesotherapy to counter the demands and effects of Winter and the dark days.

Aftercare requirements?

Generally, there is nothing specific that is required post-treatment. If you experience swelling, apply an ice pack to the area. During the summer apply SPF25+ sun cream and lead a healthy and balanced life style.

What is Diamond Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is an effective procedure to reduce the appearance of a variety of skin problems including scars, acne, fine wrinkles and sun spots. A specifically designed diamond tip exfoliates the top layers of the skin, without chemicals or lasers, to gently remove dead skin, leaving the skin smooth and fresh. Microdermabrasion also stimulates collagen production, helping the skin to rejuvenate.

Is the treatment suitable for me?

If you want to reduce signs of blotchy skin, superficial acne, blackheads, whiteheads, large pores, age related sun spots, fine wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture or you have rosacea then you would most certainly benefit from microdermabrasion. The treatment will improve the clarity, tone and texture of your skin.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment takes under 60 minutes and has no downtime or side effects.

Is the treatment painful?

No, however there will be a sensation of suction and the skin will feel slightly warm. Post-treatment the skin may be slightly red, for which a cooling mask is usually applied.

Aftercare and maintenance?

To gain optimal benefits from this treatment, it is recommended to have at least 2 - 3 sessions initially within 4 weeks. After which you should maintain your results by having regular sessions every 4 - 6 weeks. It is good practice to apply a factor SPF25+ sun cream and keep your skin hydrated.
